Padraig Harrington seeking Irish Open triumph

Friday, 30 July 2010

Two-time major winner Padraig Harrington has expressed determination to get his career back on track with a victory at this week's Irish Open at Killarney.

Harrington is not yet guaranteed a place in Colin Montgomerie's European Ryder Cup team and has not won a tournament this year, but the Dubliner believes there is still time to turn his recent fortunes around.

"I am concerned about the form. I would like to win. Winning is very important," he said. "I'm just not getting across the line. I would like to get across the line and it's important to do that."

Despite his worries, Harrington claimed he has "never been happier" with his performances than he is at the moment, but revealed he may not be able to compete in the Johnnie Walker Classic, whether or not he has booked his Ryder Cup spot.

Englishman Justin Rose confirmed earlier this week that he will also miss the event at Gleneagles, despite earlier pleas from Montgomerie for wild card hopefuls to attend.ADNFCR-2334-ID-800008743-ADNFCR
