Robert Rock enjoys 'great final day at The Open'

Thursday, 22 July 2010

Golfer Robert Rock managed an impressive final day at The Open by carding a 69.

The former Midland PGA professional went home with his head held high after his round assured him of a place in next year's tournament.

Rock told the Mirror he had a good weekend and it was a "great" last day in which the majority of things went according to plan.

He added: "It's massive not having to go through qualifying again. It's great to have made the top ten."

The 32-year-old was tied in seventh place with a final score of six-under par, although he admitted it was a struggle to make par on the 17th in the competition which was won by South African Louis Oosthuizen.

Rock - a former teacher - fulfilled his dream of playing on the European Tour after he finished 116th on the 2003 Order of Merit and qualified for a place on the 2004 European Tour International Schedule.ADNFCR-2334-ID-19903402-ADNFCR
