'A matter of time' until Paul Casey major win

Thursday, 22 July 2010

The Canadian Open in Toronto could provide golfer Paul Casey with the chance to take his first win at an international tournament.

Although the sportsman, who grew up playing on golf courses in Surrey, didn't manage to scoop a victory at the Scottish Open – finishing in joint third place behind eventual winner Louis Oosthuizen.

According to Golf 365, the 33-year-old is becoming more confident that he can pull out a good performance at the North American competition, after recovering from a rib problem.

"It's been a year ago that I injured myself and it's sort of full circle now. I've done okay and maybe this [performance at St Andrews] is a sign that the latter half of the season is going to be great for me," he explained.

Sports writer Derek Lawrenson recently wrote for the Daily Mail that Casey cannot be a major player and retain his "Mr Nice Guy" attitude towards the game, after he was seen chatting to Oosthuizen during the Open Championship.
