Golf tips for youngsters

Thursday, 22 July 2010

Those looking to get their children onto golf courses to shoot a few rounds could follow a few tips from one expert.

Rob Stanger, sports specialist for the Deseret Times, suggested that parents find a teacher that is reliable and reinforce any coaching by spending time on the green with the children themselves.

When the youngsters have learnt the basics of technique, they will need to develop the right attitude for the game - it is no use getting angry every time a shot is missed, Mr Stanger said.

A regular routine can also help to nurture a good golfing talent, while parents should not stifle the emotions of young players, he added.

The expert explained: "All great golfers feel fearful and uncertain at times, but it's the golfer that can tap into emotions such as courage that will lead to success on and off the golf course."

One young golfer from South Yorkshire, Alex Robinson, recently picked up Ł5,000 worth of sponsorship and equipment after coming first in the Golf Factor competition, the Doncaster Free Press reported.ADNFCR-2334-ID-19903278-ADNFCR
