Malaysia victory has opened a lot of doors, says Noh

Wednesday, 10 March 2010

South Korean teenager Noh Seung-yul is hopeful that he will qualify for the British Open after an impressive win in the Malaysia Maybank Open.

Noh became the second-youngest player ever to win a European Tour event last week, beating his compatriot and self-declared role model KJ Choi with a 14-under- par score.

Talking about the Open, he said: "My confidence is high and I'm still feeling good. Playing in a Major and especially the Open at St Andrews is every golfer's dream and it is no different for me."

The youngest player ever to win a European Tour event was the amateur New Zealander Danny Lee, who claimed victory in the 2009 Johnnie Walker Classic at 18 years and six months - just three months younger than Noh.

This year will be the 150th anniversary of the British Open, which will be held at St Andrews Old Course this July.
