Tiger Woods will play at Masters, says Nicklaus

Thursday, 4 March 2010

Jack Nicklaus has announced his belief that the world number one Tiger Woods will play at next month's Masters in Augusta.

Speaking at the Honda Classic, Nicklaus stated that he expects him to play even though he would not confirm a return to golf this year.

He said that if Woods chooses to not attend he would be "surprised" and remarked: "I've been very non-committal because it is none of my business. But playing golf, my guess as a golfer, he is going to probably try to want to."

The world renowned golfer, who is only four titles away from matching Nicklaus's record achievement of 18 Majors, is known to be in Florida where it is rumoured that he has started to practise again.

His caddie Steve Williams recently claimed that if he had known about Woods's affairs he would have immediately "blown the whistle" on the star golfer, saying he was angered by the revelations.
