John Daly's golf career laid bare

Wednesday, 3 March 2010

A public record has been made available which details John Daly's professional career in over 450 pages of incident and misdemeanour.

The file has become public after Daly was required to give it to Morris, a publishing firm he had attempted to sue in 2005.

Owner of Morris, Florida Times-Union, has obtained the document and revealed a list of charges by the PGA against the golfer, ranging from $20,000 £13,243 fines to suspensions, plus several orders to check into rehabilitation centres.

Daly's career from 1991 to late 2008 is charted in the document, on which the PGA has refused to comment.

Ty Votaw, the PGA Tour's executive vice president for communications, said: "We turned the file over on a court order, but keeping with our policy, we are not going to comment on disciplinary action taken against players."

Online underwear company Slix recently contracted the American golfer to model men's boxers and briefs due to his eclectic taste in trousers.
