Oak Park Golf Club greenkeepers lend a hand

Wednesday, 20 January 2010

The greenkeeping team at Oak Park Golf Club has kept themselves busy during the recent period of heavy snow by helping the local community.

Crondall Primary School would not have been able to function safely without the group clearing a "colossal" amount of snow from around the building and from an access road.

Richard Pilbury, general manager of the Crown golf course in Surrey, noted that the venue has received messages of thanks from the school and from the local parish council.

He said: "We are very proud of our greenkeeping team. Not only do they maintain our golf course to a very high standard, they also use their initiative to help others."

Mr Pilbury commented that he is eagerly anticipating the new golf season and hopes that the ground thaws soon.

Oak Park Golf Club is a par-70 woodland course, which is currently offering daily updates on its website as to the state of the layout, with the team expecting nine holes to be available to play in the next few days.ADNFCR-2334-ID-19569083-ADNFCR
