Crown Golf Member Benefits

There are many benefits associated with being a member of a Crown Golf club, none more so than Open Play our unique reciprocal membership scheme providing members with the opportunity to play complimentary golf up to 10 times per club per year across many other clubs in our group. 

Open Play            

Membership at a Crown Golf club will give you complimentary playing access to our network of clubs through our 'Open Play' scheme*. You can enjoy inland links to parkland courses and from championship to 9-hole entry level, there's something for everyone within the Crown Golf Club of clubs. The spirit of Open Play is a casually arranged game of golf booked less than 7-days in advance by a group of up to 4 members or 2 members and 2 guests.

*Golf Breaks: We encourage our members to play and stay at our hotel properties - Cottesmore near Horsham in Sussex and St Mellion International Resort in Cornwall.  We provide short break exclusive offers to members and if staying at St Mellion International Resort we provide free upgrades onto the Nicklaus golf course based on the number of nights booked (based on staying in the hotel or whilst staying in a lodge including a dining package).

Golf Partners: We are proud to offer reciprocal golf in France and Spain with golf operators, Les Nouveaux Golf Des France, Chateau Des Vigiers, a magnificent property in the Dordogne and Groupo Alze a Spanish golf and hotel operator with courses in Barcelona, Murcia and Seville.

Golf Insurance: New For 2011 -   We have arranged an exclusive Golf Insurance benefit for all members with our partner, Golf Care.  We are delighted to announce that the cost of the policy is absorbed with your membership fee and covers £5m of Personal Liability and £10,500 of Third Party Damage.  

European Tour Tickets:  We are pleased to continue with our long standing relationship with The European Tour, offering Crown Golf members an exclusive discount at European Tour events.

Retail Offers: All golfers like a bargain!  We recognise this and provide periodic member only offers across a range of items including club branded shirts and jumpers, stroke saving devices, electric trolleys, clubs, bags and balls - the list goes on! 

Golf Tournaments: We celebrate the end of each season with a number of prestigious golfing events.  The Crown Golf Claret Jug takes place every October for Men’s and Ladies Club Captains and Vice Captains.  We also host a Champion of Champions Golf Event each September, where one club plays host to a shoot out between our Men’s, Ladies, Seniors and Juniors Club Champions.  Finally, we hold a Junior Series in the summer holidays and the Seniors Interclub Team Challenge.  All events are always well supported, allow members from differing clubs to socialise together and are great fun!

Member Guest Discounts: We provide member guests with a reduced green fee when playing at the member’s ‘home’ course.

Food & Drink discounts:  Members may choose to charge their Membership Card with credit and we extend a 10% discount on casually purchased items.

Advanced Booking & On Line Privileges:  Clubs provide an advance booking window for members and an on-line tee booking service so that members may book a tee time from the comfort of their own home/office at a time that suits them.

'Open Play' benefits include;

• You can book other courses in the Crown Golf group, up to 7 days in advance.
• Following Member feedback, Members may now play at Crown Golf 'sister' clubs up to 10 times in any calendar year (an increase on the 8 rounds offered in previous years)*.
• Crown members with the correct membership booking privileges play free of charge Monday to Friday. Additionally, 7-day members may book and play free of charge after 2pm at the weekend.
• All bookings are subject to availability on the day you wish to play and we request that members understand the need to be flexible when booking a tee time.
• Crown Golf members, may also pay a discounted Member Guest rate for buggies, range balls (if applicable) and hire of trolleys.
• The tee times available are subject to local availability but we will do our best to accommodate you.
• We regret that Open Play bookings may not be used as part of a Golf Society booking and the discount on you Members Bar Card will only work at your 'Home' club.
• *Open Play may not be used as part of a pre-booked golf break as this is not in the spirit of Open Play.  We offer short break exclusive offers to members choosing to stay, eat and play at Cottesmore and St Mellion.  If you choose to stay on a package basis (inc. accommodation and food) at the St Mellion International Resort Hotel we provide free upgrades onto the Nicklaus golf course depending on the number of nights booked.  For specific terms and conditions for St Mellion please contact stmellion-golfdays@crown-golf.co.uk  NB:  If staying for a typical 4-7 night St Mellion Lodge Break (including a dining package) then we will provide the same Nicklaus course upgrade.
• The Nicklaus Golf Course at St Mellion is not included in ‘Open Play’, The Kernow Resort course remains in the scheme.
• Crown members may book one Open Play tee time and not book multiple tee times.
• Crown Golf courses permit a minimum of 2 tee times before 12pm Monday-Friday and after 2pm on weekends.  However, we will do our best to accommodate additional bookings subject to course availability.
• When arriving to play at a 'sister' course, please make sure you bring your club membership card and one other form of personal ID.
• Due to the nature of The Nine of Herts - a 9-hole, purely Pay and Play golf course in Hertfordshire, this course is not included in the scheme.
• Crown Golf reserve the right to amend Open Play terms and conditions. Any amendments will be implemented from the 1st January each year and featured on this web page.
